The Unassuming King
A thirty-something year old with a background in carpentry.
He was a humble man.
A good man.
But there was something different about this man.
While we all can lay claim to carrying many titles, this man carried a great deal more.
The Word. (John 1:1)
The Light. (John 1:6)
The Son of God. (John 1:34)
Rabbi. (John 1:38)
The Messiah. (John1:41)

Everlasting Father. (Isaiah 9:6)
Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
The Lamb of God. (John 1:29)
The Lion. (Revelation 5:5)
The King. (John 12:15)
In days of old, at a time when people were longing for relief, someone to save from oppression; a time when people were holding onto a wee thread of hope; in a time when people were confused and unbelieving; in a time when people were looking for a leader to rescue, solve, guide, please ... a King came. But not exactly what they were expecting.
And they had a choice. Believe in the Name of the Lord, or not. Believe that He came to save, or not. Believe He is who He says He is, or not. Believe in hope, in a future, in love ... or not.
People today are not much different.
We are facing a world crisis. A desperate situation. Where people are longing for relief, trying to hold onto threads of hope; where people are confused and unbelieving; where people long for a leader to appease them. And still, a King came. But not what they were expecting.
And the choice is still there.
Believe, or not.
Surrender to find life in its fullest, or not.
Receive freedom, hope, love and life, or not.
Choose to humble ourselves to the point of accepting the humble King, or not.
Choose to believe in the unassuming King, or not.
A King came. The ultimate King. The only sovereign King. He still reigns today. He still saves today.
And He loves you.
Jesus. Loves. You.
Yes, you.
A week before He gave His life for His friends, the King rode into town on a donkey, and the people praised God, shouting, "Hosanna!", save.
The King offers to save you. Because He loves you.
There was a man.
A good man.
A humble man.
And there was something different about Him ...
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
"His love endures forever." (Psalm 136:26)
