Let go and Let God

Ever feel like you have to fight?
Someone swings at you, and you need to swing back?
Something beats you down, and you raise your fist and cry out?

Ever feel like you have to fight, but can't swing back anymore?
Or that your raised fist and battle cry has become a limp arm and a sob?

Ever feel like you have to fight, but lie there rendered useless?
Or that you need to give up and become a captive?

Ever feel like you are just battle-weary? ~ "Utterly exhausted and dejected by war, especially after a prolonged conflict." (war-weary : Dictionary.com)

Yeah.

I know the war.
I know the battles.
I know enough people who have been living in their own wartime angst.
I know their cries.
I know their frustrations.
I know their anger.
I've seen them in their battle stance; feet spread, fists up, guarded, ready for the fight, ready to defend.

I also know the weariness in battle. The moment of accepting defeat. The moment of hopelessness. The moment they realize that they don't have control over the fight, or their situation after.

But ...

Here's a thing to chew on in battle when your stomach is starved, for being on the battlefield day and night; when you taste defeat; when your appetite for victory is unsatisfied.
Here's something to think about when your mind wanders; when your brain tells you that it's over; when your heart gives up.

What if you don't need to fight?

At all.

What if the king tells you to assemble the army? What if he tells you to gather the troops and get ready for battle? What if he says to go down to the battlefield and wait for his command?
Then what if the command is to watch.
Watch what the king has planned.
Watch what the king can do.
Watch and trust the king to organize the battle-plan, encourage the warriors, enable the troops.
Watch and hear him instruct to just see him move.
When God is the king, what if  all you have to do is ...

~ Position yourself ... assume the proper posture - humble, receiving; line up in position with God.
~ Be still ... no self here, acknowledge God's ability, not my own; let God move, not me.
~ Watch God move ...

Position yourself.
Be still.
Watch God move.

"But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord's victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!" (2 Chronicles 20:17, NLT)
